With the Academy Awards approaching, The New York Times (along with a bazillion other publications – including this blog, apparently) has been discussing the nominees ad nauseam.

While many of the newspaper and magazine articles on the subject all seem to say similar things, The Times recently published a couple of pieces that I found interesting – largely because they concern subjects that don’t get nearly enough press come Oscar season: documentaries and short films.
